Introduction

This is my first time at this business of blogging. I want to write about the wonderful world of the Hospice NP, the good times and the bad. Some people ask how it is I, and others like me, can do this work, and hopefully this blog will answer that question. In a word, because it's meaningful. I know at the end of the day that I mattered to someone. But it's much more than that. So in the coming days and weeks, I hope to fill the posts with my thoughts and feeling about what's going on in my life as a hospice NP. If it strikes a chord, write a comment. I'd love the feedback.

  1. Best to you in this endeaver! Do you follow Pallimed? It's a wonderful palliative care blog, at: http://www.pallimed.org/

  2. Congrats on starting a blog! (Thanks for the plug risaden!)

If you find this is something that you keep stick with over the long run, I will feature your blog on Pallimed. Wouldn't want to do that too soon and pressure you to quickly.

Find your voice first and figure out your pace. But know that you already have a couple of fans! You can also check out a couple of other hospice related blogs here.

  3. And if you are planning on posting stories from your personal experience, I would encourage you to write some sort of disclaimer about changing names, times etc. to de-identify information. Make sure the disclaimer post is linked somewhere prominent on the upper part of your blog so people can access it easily.

  4. Wonderful to see another NP make it to the blogosphere! Great topic as well. I spent almost 5 years in a formal hospice environment...it remains one of my favorite, most challenging and most rewarding times of my career.
